Change is something I look forward to – sometimes more than I should. One of my writer friends told me over lunch a few weeks ago that I was one of the few people he knew that seemed to enjoy reinventing himself. For a few seconds his comments took me by surprise, then after digesting what he said, I actually agreed with him. I’ve had to reinvent myself several times in my brief life and this time I know far more than I did the last time I went through such a transformation.

While I am writing my memoir, reinventing myself and learning more about the publishing industry, I’ve been advised that I need to take advantage of different social media opportunities.  A few weeks ago I was researching some topics on writing and social media use and came across the site of Alexis Grant, a young lady writing her own memoir about her experiences backpacking solo through Africa. However, it wasn’t her book topic that caught my eye, but the fact that Alexis offers her services as a “Social Media Coach”. www.alexisgrant.com.  Whether you’re a social media guru or just starting to consider all the various options at your disposal, Alexis’ site provides a wealth of information on how to effectively use blogs, Facebook, Twitter and other tools. I can personally vouch for her knowledge and recommend her services as a great resource.

Yet I’m still a bit curious on how all of the various social media options work in conjunction with one another. So I’ve taken yet another step in my social media experiment by establishing a Twitter account. You can follow me on Twitter at authorstanley. What are your experiences with social media in your business or personal life and how have they worked for you?
