Bredesen Recognizes Trooper Appreciation Day

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Gov. Phil Bredesen joined dozens of Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers on the steps the of the Capitol Tuesday morning.

Joining Bredesen for the observance were state Sen. Paul Stanley; state Rep. Jim Cobb; Department of Safety Commissioner David Mitchell; and Colonel Mike Walker, commander of the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

The day was set aside to honor men and women who work hard each day protecting other people.

The General Assembly passed House Joint Resolution 263 by Cobb to designate Tuesday and every Tuesday of the week in which May 15 falls thereafter, as State Trooper Recognition Day on the Hill.

Troopers are responsible for safety on more than 15,000 miles of state and federal highways.
