State Senator Paul Stanley - District 31

Senator Stanley to Support Local Control Over Adult Businesses

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Yesterday House Bill 1403 was discussed in the House Government Operations Subcommittee.  In its original form it deals with Cabaret Clubs in Tennessee.

Sen. Paul Stanley (R-Germantown) released the following statement with regards to the legislation:

“I agreed to sponsor this bill in the Senate to allow our law enforcement officials and District Attorney’s to exercise more control over adult oriented businesses.  Today I am withdrawing this bill from the Senate because I believe our District Attorney in Shelby County and our local legislative bodies can more closely regulate these types of businesses by local ordinances and do not need this bill to complete that objective.  I do not support adult oriented businesses and favor stronger local ordinances in order to restrict or even eliminate them from our communities.”
