I liked most of the reporters I knew (with one or two exceptions, that is), even when they didn&#8217;t cover stories the way I felt they should.<\/p>\n<p>For the past two years I&#8217;ve spent a lot of time writing &#8211; on learning the craft &#8211; the fundamentals and technical aspects of writing, and following the advice of great writers who say the only way to improve your writing is to write &#8211; a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Sometime around the end of April I received an email from a close friend saying an on-line Christian news source was looking for reporters to cover various issues such as church, family, living, business, politics, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Writing on politics, I thought? Could be interesting.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of weeks later I made contact, submitted a writing sample and went through an evaluation period before being asked to join The Christian Post (CP) as a full-time reporter covering politics. The best way to describe CP is we cover secular news from a Christian perspective\/angle.<\/p>\n<p>Soon afterward they asked me to assume the role of section editor for the politics page.<\/p>\n<p>I absolutely love the job. It&#8217;s hard work and I find myself spending 10 to 12 hours each day writing, researching issues, interviewing people, editing other reporters stories and managing the political page.
